three things about writing

First, I borrowed a copy of my colleague Chris Matthew's book and I am so impressed. I think it's really gorgeous. I have tremendous respect for poets. It also just so happens that he is so smart, his mind goes so fast, I sometimes can't keep up... and that's fast.

Second, I'm going to do a couple of two-day workshops in Aspen this summer.

Third and finally, I heard about the workshops from my friend Wendy in Boulder. She said I might like Laura Fraser's work, An Italian Affair. It's a memoir by an American woman who gets a divorce and flees to Italy. Sound familiar? I think to myself, "After Under the Tuscan Sun, after An Italian Affair, after that article by Elizabeth Gilbert in Oprah magazine this month... (same theme, different woman) then what could I say about being an American divorcee in this part of the world?"

On the other hand, all of these books say more or less the same things and they all sell like hotcakes, so why not at least try? I think I will try. Just for fun at first and then we'll see.

I'll keep you posted, all puns intended.
Buona notte, tutti! (Good night all!)
