Birthday. Friends.

It's my birthday this weekend, and I will officially hereafter be of "advanced maternal age." I'm not so worried about that lately.

I'm thinking instead about missing my friends. The only real friend I made here was a guy who flipped out when I didn't want to date him, so now I have no friends. I work and go home and hang with Mufasa. I watch TV. I think I am officailly in love with a television character, which is especially ironic since I study the kind of people who fall in love with television characters! He is a maginificent character, played by a fine (and I mean FINE) actor, though. ;-)

My neighbors are nice acquaintances, but she doesn't seem interested in really being friends, so I miss long conversations over steaming cups, hatching plans, laughing at our silliness and secrets. I miss Beth and Lori and Marni, my writing group and Wisdom group and a cappella group. I miss the gang from our weekends at Snow Mountain Ranch.

Maybe they'll come visit in Lugano -- there is, after all, still time...

That's so funny. I just got a e-reminder about your birthday and I logged onto your site to wish you a happy early birthday and here you are with a double reminder for me! I am simply convinced that little Moscow was just too small of a pond for you, but was indeed a place for you to rest, rejuvenate, reflect... and restore you to your big large powerful self, so off you go to Lugano and there you will have all your dreams come true...
