I think sometimes the comfort of being at home (in the U.S.) would be nice. I miss simple things like the view of the Flatirons when you walk out the wide front doors of the Kings Soopers supermarket and 30th and Arapahoe, public address systems that are speaking my language, and Target. God, I never thought I’d be one of those people but what I wouldn’t give to push a big, clean, shiny, silver shopping cart with wheels that actually roll right (Why don't the wheels roll smoothly here? They go all caddywhampus every which way.) up and down and up and down those aisles. Oh, just to marvel at the assortment of greeting cards and wrapping papers and multiple brands of stuff to make the interior leather in your car shiny! The cacaphony of global warming-inducing, low wage labor-perpetuating, Made in Taiwan plastic marvels.
I’d buy purses. I think I’ve bought two purses in the last ten years, but I’d buy Target purses now if I could. I want this one (above) and this red Targus laptop bag. And cheap plastic sunglasses. And cute paper goods like stickies and stuff. Ooooh, I do love that stuff, but we are so frivolous with production and consumption in the U.S. and we don't even realize it.Oooohh... and Wal-mart frozen biscuits. They're good. The real, Southern kind...
