bad blogger

I've been a bad blogger -- long time, no blog posts. But it's been my birthday this weekend and I've had company non-stop for a week... so here are a few different things.

First... doors. Local doors I've seen as I took visitors about. Notice there's an open door here. I've decided it's time to risk dating again. Silly, I guess, that going on dates seems risky, but BOY! it does. I hope there will be good stories to tell soon... and I hope I don't get my heart squashed again. I think if I just have fun with this and don't hand my heart over on a silver platter early on, this whole dating thing could be fun! So... another open door... reminds me of just over a year ago...

Saturday was Zach's birthday and in the span of about 20 minutes I managed to talk to Steve, Diane (his first wife) and Zach on the phone! It was so strange to hear Steve's voice again. So familiar. It was fine. Actually, my thought was, "I'm talking on the phone with my ex-husband and I don't hate him!" It had a who knew? sort of quality. They seem fine. All is well. I don't even know what to say about all of that. The little man says he loves me freely and easily still, even though he's a twelve-year-old boy, and I will always take that as a compliment bigger than any other.

I had three houseguests at the time, so it was just right back out into the living room and hanging out with new friends (including opera man)... we started the evening at the little neighborhood ristorante. This is the little Sicilian man who runs it (and some of my local friends).

This week I've been to the local chocolate factory twice... and these are some photos from the top of Monte San Salvatore. My cousin Keri and I were there Tuesday.
