The things I remember...

I'm going to Zurich for the long Easter weekend... Mufasa and I will take the train this afternoon. I'll post photos soon.

I received this e-mail from my Mema after the last post and now I have new topics to write on:

"The things I remember..."
Sounds and smells
"The things I should have done and didn't..."
You get my old motor running! The things I remember from my travels are the sounds and smells. The call to worship in Istanbul, the smell of lamb all over Turkey and Lebanon, the motor on the boat in Venice, put-putting, the icebergs calfing (breaking off) in Alaska, the smell of the salmon and hallibut cooking in the outdoor eating places in Alaska, the natives in Istanbul hawking the Oriental rugs in the bazaar, etc. I have so many memories that they can overwhelm my desire to do anything else, except sometime, it really gets to me, the things that I should have done and didn't. I think this is one of the things that is getting to you.

Also, send good wishes to Katia, who's having her baby now!

Thanks for your good wishes. Believe me, I needed all the help I could get. It was the hardest most excrutiatingly painful thing I have ever experienced. 12 hours of excrutiating pain, actually. Thank God I had a homebirth because if I were in the hospital I would have taken anything they had to give me, including a C-section. It was a miracle. And the baby is a miracle.
